Anders (Andrew) Lindblad was born in Slatthog Parish in Smaland, Sweden
on April 29, 1836.
He was the son of Sven Andersson Fahna, born Nov 22,
1810 And Casja Johannesdotter, born Oct 10, 1801.
Andrew Lindblad
married Brita Stina Amundsson, they were married in Sweden in 1859.
The
parish records in Sweden said that Andrew & Brita Lindblad had four sons,
when they emmigrated to the US in 1869 (They got their emmigration papers on
April 10, 1869 from the pastor)
Their sons were Sven Johan born March 10, 1860, Anders Goran born April
12, 1862, Carl Gustaf born Dec2, 1864 and Aaron William born Nov 23, 1867.
According to the passenger list of their boat, they had bought tickets for
Denver.
The family name was Lindblad in Sweden, Andrew got the name when he enrolled as a soldier in the Swedish army in 1859.
Andrew, Brita and their four sons settled in Laporte, Indiana, Andrew was a farmer, they had a farm at Rural route 3.
The Lindblad family joined the Bethany Lutheran church on 8/5/1870. Church records show that Anders, Brita Stina, Sven Johan, Anders Goran and Carl William, there is no mention of Aaron William after he is mentioned on the parish records in Sweden, we do not know what happened to him, he was 2 yrs old, when they left for the US, maybe he died on their trip.
A later entry in the church records at the Lutheran church in Laporte, shows Carl Gustaf died 9/9/1897 in Laporte, he would have been only 10 yrs old. Another entry shows Sven Johan confirmed 5/16/1875, 15 yrs old.
Andrew & Brita Stina Lindblad had a daughter Christina Marie born 2/10/1873, she died 2/10/1873, they had another daughter Stina Marie who was born 7/13/1874.
Some years later Brita’s father in Sweden died and Brita’s mother Marie Amundsson left Sweden and came to the US to join her only child, Brita and her husband, Andrew, Brita’s mother changed her name to Mary Lindblad, she is listed in their household in 1880 Census.
Anders Goran went by the name George Linbdblad, he lived at the farm with his father, mother and sister, he never married and never left home.
Andrew Lindblad died 6/27/1901, 71 years old, he is buried in the Carmel Cemetery, Laporte, Indiana.
Brita, George and Stina continued living at the farm, Brita Stina Lindblad died 4/12/1923, she was 85 years old, she is also buried in the Carmel Cemetery beside her husband. (Webmaster notation - in the LaPorte County Federal Census for Coolspring area, 1900, Brita Stina replies that she gave birth to 6 children 3 of which were still surviving)
George and his sister Stina continued to live at the farm in Coolspring Township until Stina married Frank Johnson, born 3/11/1875, they married 2/24/1909 in Laporte, they had a daughter Violet Marie Johnson born 8/6/1911 and a son George Johnson. (Note from Web Master D. West George appears in the 1930 census with his parents and is listed as being 12 years of age vs the 1920 census for same county and township where he is shown as being 3 years 10/12. )
George Lindblad lived at the farm until his death in 1939, he is also buried in the Carmel Cemetery.

Sven Johan Lindblad went by the name Swan, he was married 20 Jan 1883 to
Ida Caroline
Anderson in Henry County, Illinois. and they had two daughters Ann
Christina and Effie Agnes, listed on the church records they moved to Wausa,
Knox County, Nebraska and lived there several years, then came back to Laporte
after their father Andrew died and lived in Laporte for a few years, several
other children (See webmaster notes below this paragraph) were born to them,
some in Laporte and some in Nebraska, then moved back to Wausa, Nebraska again
for good.

Notes for Swan 10 MAR 1860- 1 SEP 1934 & Ida b.3 FEB 1866 both
buried Woodlawn Cemetery, Knox County, Nebraska: by 1900 according to the
census for Knox Co., Nebraska - they had 6 children, all living. Anna b.
Indiana in January 1890; Effie A, b. Indiana in Feb 1981; Anders Egbert
probably was Albert, b. Nebraska in 1893 ; Della M. b. Indiana in March 1895;
Carl Alfred b. Indiana in 16 JAN 1897- 16 MAR 1922, John G, b. Indiana 24 Mar
1899 and he died August of 1972.
In 1910 we find this family in State: South Dakota, County: Hand ,
Pleasant Valley Twp.
page 75A We note the additional children - Seth b.
1901 and d. 1962 and a daughter 6 years old and another son, Earl 4 years old
(1906- 1977) he is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Knox County, Nebraska .

Anders_Svensson_Lindblad´s_letter_of_dismissal. This
document was issued by the commander in chief (normally having the rank of
colonel) for the Kronoberg Regiment which Anders Lindblad served until his
emigration. Anders had Svensson as his last name until he was accepted as
soldier and served for the farmers of the village of Bästerna in the
parish of SLÄTTHÖG. When he was accepted as soldier he got a new last
name - Lindblad - as was the custom. This document is written in a very
old-fashioned and complicated bureaucratic language which makes it quite
difficult to translate to get the tone of those long past days. The best try
to translate it reads as follows:
Since, at Norra Sunnerbo
Company of No. 11 Royal Kronoberg´s Regiment the Vice Corporal for
theFile No. 116 Bästerna in the parish of Slätthög of the
province of Kronoberg Anders Svensson Lindblad, (who) before his acceptence for
war service named Anders Svensson, who was born April 29, 1836 in the parish of
Slätthög of the province of Kronoberg and served at this Regiment
since October 21, 1859, now will according to his own request and with the
therefore given consent of the farmers of the File, with the intention of
seeking better livelihood wanting to be dismissed from his war service.
therefore he, No. 116 Anders Svensson Lindblad, is hereby dismissed from the
Regiment and from the war service with the testimonial that he thereby has
faithfully and excellently well behaved himself. This certificate should by
Lindblad at the next occurring General Inspection with the Royal
Kronoberg´s Regiment for the General-Inspection-Function at time and
place which through by the King´s Lieutenant Governor in the province
issued announcement will be established, be shown up to the General-Commander,
whereby ordinary Dismissal-passprt will be received; should in case of claim
for support by the Fighting-Services-House Pay Desk of Wadstena togehter with
this testimony be handed in recently issued Pastor`s certificate regarding
having good character and Doctor´s certificate regarding capacity for

Andrew Lindblad's Ancestors
LARS CHRISTIAN
HULTBERG was born 1747 and served as a soldier for number 69 or 70, Nora
Sunnerbo company in Vret, Hortjsberg parish. His military name was "HULTBERG"
which means "Clearing in the forest mountain" . He married Ingrid Svensdotter
on November 29,1778, she was born April 17, 1752 in Transjo, Svensgard,
Hortjsberg parish, the daughter of Sven & Ingrid Persson. On july 30, 1779,
a son Anders was born and died almost three weeks later on August 18, 1779. On
October 10, 1781 a daughter Ingrid was born, then on June 1, 1783, twin
daughters were born, named Stina and Lena, however Lena was stillborn.
On January 17, 1788 a son Anders was born, then on June 4, 1792
a son Sven was born. ANDERS SKOLD was born January 17, 1788, he took an army
name Skold, sometimes spelt Skjold which means Shield. He was born in the
parish of Hortjsberg and he married ELIN INGERMARDOTTER, she was born in 1784
in the parish of Vislanda, all these parishes are within a few miles of each
other, only about 10 - 12 miles. Anders & Elin had five children, SVEN
ANDERSON was born Nov 2, 1810, then they had triplets, Ingemar, Ingrid and
Catherina born May 26, 1816, they all died, then they had a daughter Stina
born1818.
SVEN ANDERSON born Nov 2, 1810 married CASJA
JONASDOTTER, she was born Oct 10, 1801, SVEN was 19 years old and his wife was
28 years old when they married, she had been married before but her husband had
gone to war some years ago and was captured and died in captivity, from this
previous marriage two daughters were born ,but both died. SVEN ANDERSON took
the army name FAHNA, which means FLAG, SVEN & CASJA had five children:
JONAS FAHNA born April 8, 1833, married INGRID CATHERINA JOHANNESDOTTER, who
was born 1837. They had nine children, William, Andrew, Carl, Benjamin, Edwin,
Fred, George, Amel and one daughter, Stina Casja Wilhelmina, but she always
went by the name Minnie. Seven of Janoas's sons had already emigrated to the US
earlier, then in 1893, Jonas and his wife Catherina and their three younger
children, Stina, George and Amel, emigrated to the US, sometime before they
left Sweden, they changed their name to FAHNSTROM, which means FLAGSTREAM, they
sailed on the ship, "America" from Fredrickshavn, Nordjylland, Denmark to Ellis
Island, they arrived June 12, 1893, they first settled in Victoria, Illinios,
then moved to Galva, Illinios and lived there the rest of their lives.
ANDERS SVENSON LINDBLAD was born April 29, 1836 in Slatthog
parish in Sweden, Anders married BRITA STINA ANUNDSDOTTER, they were married in
1859, he took the army name LINDBLAD while in the Swedish army in 1859, Anders
and his wife decided to emigrate to the US, they got their emigration papers on
April 10, 1869 from their pastor.

INGRID
FAHNA was born in 1840, she married Johan Johnson, but some years later Ingrid
moved back to live with her parents, as her husband had been in prison for
several things, she left Sweden and joined her two grown children here, her two
children were George Henrickson Johnson and Amanda Johnson, when George came to
the US he changed his name to George Henrickson, he was at the college near
Galva and met his wife Malvina Anderson, they married and moved to Michigan to
live, INGRID FAHNA joined George and his wife and family there and died there.
Her daughter Amanda went to stay with Uncles and Aunts in Galva and met her
cousin George Fahnstrom, son of JONAS FAHNSTROM, they were married, her brother
George was against the marriage, they had several children and lived in Galva
most of their lives. ANNA FAHNA no dates for her, she never married, stayed
near her parents, she got an illness and died in 1878 in Smaland, Sweden.
SARAH LENA FAHNA was a schoolteacher, she got ill and was
confined to her bed for some years, she died in Sweden.
SVEN
ANDERSON FAHNA died in 1881, his wife Casja died two years later in 1883
