Johnson, George E. - News Dispatch, Michigan City, Indiana - Feb
11, 2002 - George E. Johnson, 85, died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 9, 2002) at
Carroll Woods Nursing Center.
The funeral is at 1 p.m.
Wednesday at Haverstock Funderal Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Dennis Meyer
officitating. Burial is in Carmel Cemetery, LaPorte.
Visitation
is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the
funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 12, 1916, in LaPorte to
Frank and Christina Johnson.
In August 1946, in Michigan City, he married
Jean Mary Szymanszek. She died Dec. 8, 1962.
Surviving are a
daughter, Marian Hareroad, Indianapolis; a son, Raymond Johnson, Michigan City;
two stepdaughters, Julie Hill, LaPorte, Deloris Kalita, Michigan City; a
stepson, Chester Grys, LaPorte; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren;
and many great-grandchildren. A sister, Violet Adams, preceded him in death.
Mr. Johnson was a security officer with Security, Inc. He was confirmed in 1932
at Bethany Lutheran Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. News-Dispatch,
